Blogging as conversation
When people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds who are hearing/speech impaired meet, they communicate far more effectively than people who are not. This is because their respective sign languages e.g. International sign language, Chinese sign language, Indian, British, Catalan etc. share a lot more common ground by way of symbols, metaphors, slang etc. than the spoken languages themselves viz. English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi etc.
In effect, they have far richer conversations than those who can actually speak the respective languages.
There's a message somewhere here for bloggers. When one thinks of it, there's a message here for everyone trying to bridge divides of all sorts (and those not too keen on bridging them as well).
On an unrelated note, most television programming in sign language happens late at night, as does most blogging.
Interesting, no?

r u tellin it is gud to b deaf & dumb on a chinese tour ? ;)
It's not so much the language one uses to communicate, rather its ones desire and willingness to want to connect with others that makes for a rich conversation.
Put a group of children together in the same space and see how easily and quickly they become friends. How easily they breach the barriers of social, cultural, racial and economical differences and connect with each other at a more fundamental, a more individual level - one human with another.
On the other hand, a group of adults will spend hours/days/years in the same place and yet walk away as strangers.

On a slightly off-topic note, but since you have been pondering about life's questions and seeking answers, here's another working through similar thoughts..

dd, it's obviously not great being hearing/speech impaired anywhere, but if you actually were and in China, u'd probably want to ask directions from someone like yourself. simple, no :-)?
