this is our plague, and that means all of us

N, who probably visits this space as much as I do, had this to add to the previous post.

N, embarrassed & going successive shades of beet, shakes head vigorously and denies the above vehemently. Just found the writting/attitude of another N interesting, thats all. Will be more scarce from now.

Oh shit, chill. Didn't really intend that to sound uncomplimentary or complimentary in any sense. I was in a tearing hurry and wanted to insert the link into some kind of a post. My apologies. Besides, I don't read the IHT, you do. And I like affirmation as much as anyone else:-)

Chuckles. These battles between kids I tell you.

About the link - you know what really worries me at least in the Indian context is the post-diagnosis care for those living with HIV/ AIDS. The government is literally spending tankfuls on awareness and yet people living with HIV have never had it worse. The cost of drugs is going up as well. hhmm..

the government may be spending money on awareness, but much of that money goes into mass health promotion. groups at high risk of contracting HIV/AIDS e.g. sex workers, IV drug users etc. are often not even acknowledged to exist, since that would would mean 'invalidating' inconvenient facts about the real nature of Indian society and 'culture'. current best evidence points to a combination of both general and targeted approaches as being the most effective, with targeted approaches having the greater impact. the brunt of the latter task is borne by NGOs and the sheer weight of the Indian numbers means that they are rapidly running out of resources. the future is incredibly bleak. no one's talking about it, as usual.

as for treatment, TRIPS covers anti-retrovirals, but the government has to summon the political will to do a Brazil or South Africa to enforce it on an extremely recalcitrant and powerful Big Pharma. Lula in Brazil is the ultimate TRIPS/WTO warrior and Manmohan Singh needs emergency political tutorials from him on the issue.

I was beginning to check for symptoms to see whether I'd turned into a Blog Troll while I wasn't looking. Hm, the tail is not visible, the hair's nearly manageable, the fangs have been filed to look relatively even, the height could help me blend in more with the seven dwarfs than the kindergarten trolls, though the weight would probably cause the tell-tale sink holes..
..and those two teenie-weenie bumps on my head?..er..I bumped my head coming out of my cav...er..home.

So thanks for your response to my comment, it has eased my mind. :)

I understand the term, but don't understand the context in which it was used, also whether it was being used in its real sense or in a figurative way..hence the confusion.

And googling for anything, have you seen the number of options that it throws up?! So in that context, in cases of linguistic confusions, google is not really much of a solution. Unless one is having a lucky day. ;)
